Xiaomi's August 2025 sales have been revealed by the company, and it was another bumper month. The electronics giant, which has branched into electric cars, posted on Weibo that it delivered more than 30,000 EVs for the second time in its history.
Xiaomi did not disclose the exact numbers, but it sold more than 30,000 units in July, with data provided by the China Passenger Car Association indicating deliveries at 30,452 vehicles. It was a 20 percent month-on-month increase.
The bump is no doubt a result of the runaway popularity of the Xiaomi YU7 SUV. The electric car gathered more than 200,000 orders in just three minutes of being available. Xiaomi started deliveries in July.
The YU7 was introduced in June and immediately sparked Xiaomi vs Tesla debates as the new SUV is a direct competitor to the Model Y.
Xiaomi’s good fortunes, however, may not excite many of its customers, as the EV delivery wait times have stretched up to 56 weeks, according to the company’s EV ordering mobile app. This comes despite its efforts to ramp up production by recruiting a massive number of staff for its production facility in July. CEO Lei Jun even urged customers to consider buying from rival brands.
Xiaomi EV factory expansion, however, does not seem to affect the company’s overseas plans. It is set to enter the European EV market in 2027.
