Reviews for the Xiaomi Poco M5s
The Poco M5s aims to attract buyers in the price range around 200 Euros (~$211). The largest reason for a purpose is supposed to be the very bright AMOLED panel with more than 1000 nits. Find out in our review of the Poco M5s whether the Xiaomi phone can keep up in the comparison with the powerful Redmi competitors.

We are looking at a clone of last year's Redmi model, which means that the company is essentially trying to sell the same phone for the second time. POCO M5s has a high-quality AMOLED screen, long battery life and 33W charging, stereo speakers, and adequate performance. Cons - poor photo quality if the lighting is not perfect, only 60 Hz screen refresh, no charger included. For the money, it's a good average. But boring.

The Xiaomi Poco M5s smartphone is a cost-efficient device that brings all of the necessary things. It includes everything that generally users demand from an affordable mid-range phone, it got a vibrant color display, good performance for daily usage, various customization features, long-lasting battery. But, there’s no doubt that the phone will have some flaws under the hood. For instance, the camera quality is low and the device is incapable to provide higher graphics and visuals for advanced gaming. However, it’s pretty much expected from the mid-range phone because the company requires cutting some corners to make the phone more budget-friendly to the users. In terms of alternative options with 5G support, you can check out Xiaomi Poco M4 5G smartphone because it comes with a better chipset and specs in the same price range.

The Poco M5s is a good all-rounder as far as affordable smartphones go. It has a sleek design, a bright and sharp display, a long-lasting battery life and a UI that is simple but still very customisable. The camera is a bit hit-and-miss with the 64-megapixel mode offering up some great results with lots of detail, but images have a tendency to be washed out and oversharpened, especially in tricky lighting situations. However, my experience with the M5s was generally positive and, for its price, I don’t think it should be written off at all.

The Poco M5s is easily one of the best entry-level phones money can buy, with solid build quality and head-turning design, impressive battery life, and general performance. However, its software falls short of the quality hardware, bringing the phone down a notch.

And with these two imperfections, we still recommend the Poco M5s for being one of the most feature-rich smartphones within its price bracket. It just has a specs sheet that's really hard to beat, and, at the end of the day, it's a solid and reliable phone.

The Poco M5s is somewhat of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it has solid specs like an AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging, stellar dual speakers, expandable storage and 64MP / 8MP main and ultrawide cameras. But on the other, it runs a two-year-old 12nm MediaTek Helio G95 chipset and refreshes at just 60Hz. Granted the overall hardware and form factor looks really nice, but it is still a carryover from the Redmi Note 10 series from early 2021. In addition, there are a few really oddball downgrades from the excellent POCO M4 Pro such as a lower resolution selfie camera and a slightly larger size. The only thing POCO has managed in this sky-high inflation era is to hold the base MSRP to €209. While it is a good smartphone for the price it makes too many compromises to achieve it. You may want to shop around a bit or pay a bit more and get a better POCO smartphone instead.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

74.99%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
