With the launch of the Poco F7 finally on the horizon, Xiaomi is taking its usual approach of drip-feeding information to fans before the device's big unveiling. For reference, the latest Poco F7 series model will officially arrive on June 24 in simultaneous global and Indian releases.
In the meantime, Xiaomi has now confirmed the battery capacity of its global model after revealing equivalent information for its Indian variant last week. Typically, one would not need to make that distinction. However, it turns out that this will not be the case for the Poco F7.
Instead, rumours that Xiaomi would be nerfing the battery capacity of its global variant were correct. As we discussed in April, Xiaomi has decided to include a 6,500 mAh battery inside all Poco F7 units sold outside India. While the company has not confirmed why, the change will see the Poco F7 containing a 16% larger battery in India than in other markets. Nonetheless, a 6,500 mAh battery capacity would still see the Poco F7 outperforming its Poco F7 series siblings in this regard.
Specifically, the Poco F7 will offer a 22.6% bump over the Poco F7 Ultra, despite the latter's more premium positioning within the series. By contrast, the Poco F7 will deliver an 8.3% larger battery than the Poco F7 Pro (curr. $599 on Amazon). Given how close the pair are expected to be in terms of performance, it remains to be seen whether this 500 mAh gap will translate into longer battery life for the Poco F7, particularly given its larger but lower resolution display.
