Reviews for the Xiaomi Mi 4i

85% Not A Flagship, But Definitely A Great Buy
Source: Android Authority English Archive.org version
So there you have it, for this closer look at the Xiaomi Mi 4i! There’s no denying that this is a really good phone that features an unbeatable price tag, but Xiaomi’s marketing of the Mi 4i being an “affordable flagship” is quite misleading. Affordable, definitely, but flagship, not quite. While you do get excellent design and build quality, great display, impressive battery life, and a good software experience, its processing package, and the availability of just 16 GB of non-expandable storage puts this device in the mid-range.

Xiaomi Mi 4i review: Hands down
Source: GSM Arena English Archive.org version
The Xiaomi Mi 4i bridges the gap between the flagship Mi series and the Redmi lot, a likable gadget but not in the sense of a pet - it may be an affordable phone but not underpowered and full of compromise. No, on paper everything seems near perfect for the Mi 4i. And for the most part, the Xiaomi Mi 4i lives up to its promise. Its 5" 1080p screen is great and the imaging department is quite capable as well. Both the 13MP primary unit and the 5MP selfie cam produce good images with great detail and subtle processing. The thoughtful design results in a great handling experience, the connectivity options are above average, and the battery backup is solid.

Model: Beautifully simplistic in design and fun; the Xiaomi Mi 4i is a compact smartphone with a hint of freshness. The device weighs only 130 g and comes with an integrated unibody and stainless steel buttons and feels solid. The back cover contains the camera and elegant speaker cut-outs. There are 6 colors to choose from; dark gray, black, white, yellow, blue and pink. Underneath the seemingly playful colors is a durable magnesium alloy chassis that is claimed to been rigorously tested for build quality by Mi. The ultra-thin 7.8 mm profile packs in a gorgeous 5.0 inch IPS LCD panel protected by Corning glass.

On-screen images are rendered sharp and colors are beautifully reproduced. Audio quality is impressive with the super speaker, which also comes with an internal protection feature to prevent speaker damage.
