The start of 2025 has marked the arrival of several 'Ultra'-branded smartphones. For example, Samsung has the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,194.99 on Amazon). Meanwhile, Xiaomi has the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Recently, Oppo confirmed that it will be launching the Find X8 Ultra on April 10, at least in China anyway. Incidentally, the Find X8 Ultra will be joined by the Find X8S and Find X8S Plus, which are expected to showcase MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ chipset.
Now, Vivo has teased that its next 'Ultra' smartphone will be launching next month too. According to various sources, the company announced during the Boao Forum for Asia that April is the launch month for the X200 Ultra, which is anticipated to arrive alongside the cheaper X200s. Vivo is not said to have confirmed a specific launch date, though.
Likewise, it did not clarify whether this April event will be limited to China or a global one. Regardless, Yogesh Brar believes that the X200 Ultra will be a catalyst 'for big ecosystem changes' that will result in at least the X300 Ultra being available globally. The X200 Ultra is expected to combine a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with a trio of high-end cameras set in a massive housing. These will include an improved 200 MP telephoto camera based around the ISOCELL HP9 with an 85 mm equivalent focal length and a comparatively wide f/2.27 aperture.
