The NVIDIA "ultimate" countdown started 21 days ago, so that means the time is nigh for the company's next GeForce Special Event. Thought to be used to unveil the likes of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, today's event will commence at 16:00 UTC and can be watched on Twitch.

The future is approaching so quickly according to NVIDIA, for it is the final day of the Ultimate Countdown. The volume of recent leaks would suggest that NVIDIA is planning to unveil its latest GeForce RTX graphics cards today, just over 21 years after it launched the GeForce 256, its inaugural GeForce card.

Today's GeForce Special Event commences at 16:00 UTC and will be streamed on Twitch. We would expect NVIDIA to post its GeForce live stream on YouTube too, but it is yet to post a corresponding link. Either way, you could also head to the GeForce Special Event page for links to the various platforms on which today's live stream will be hosted.

Rumour has it that NVIDIA plans to announce at least the GeForce RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. The latter is rumoured to offer upwards of 2x the performance of the RTX 2080 Ti in certain circumstances, but NVIDIA will clarify this during the event. Unsurprisingly, there is plenty of talk about the pricing of the RTX 30 series. As Dave Lee of Dave2D has quipped, the RTX 30 series may be significantly more expensive than NVIDIA's current offerings.
