Tesla hasn't gotten around to offering 0% APR financing for the new Model Y in the US like it did in China just yet, but it is including it in a new promotional spree that aims to pad flagging shipments after a bad Q1 earnings miss.
While new Model Y buyers in the US won't get zero interest rate on their payments, they are offered a free FSD transfer from their old Tesla vehicle, regardless of whether it is the Model 3, the old Model Y, a Model S, Model X, or a Cybertruck.
The padded Model Y Launch Series and Cybertruck Foundation Series editions are, naturally, excluded, since they came with FSD as part of the pricey package anyway.
Not only can legacy Model Y owners now transfer the FSD option they paid for to a new Model Y, but to nudge those with older cars who are still on the fence, Tesla is discounting $2,000 off the price of the Juniper facelift, too.
It says that the Model Y price reduction is for owners who bought its inaugural SUV early on, but the exact production cutoff date is not clear, so those who want to take advantage will have to wait for the official message from Tesla that can be seen below.
"Used vehicles are excluded," cautions Tesla, and warns that "promotional credit must be applied to an order under the same Tesla account as your current Model Y by June 30, 2025, otherwise it will be forfeited."
Tesla is seemingly making free FSD transfers a permanent feature, since the promo has now been offered in four of the last five quarters, and is back on the Tesla deals menu for the US and Canada. Not Europe, though, where those who paid for it still can't use it anyway.
On the other hand, the market value of a used legacy Model Y plummeted since the release of the new Juniper refresh, so what Tesla gains in trade-in value it can now tack on as a free FSD transfer offer without a significant hit to its fundamentals.
