Those in the market for the latest Model Y Juniper facelift now have a chance to preview how two of its color finishes look outdoors in direct sunlight, perhaps the hardest test for any hue to shine in.
The leaks include the brand new and exclusive Diamond Black color of the 2026 Model Y that only American buyers can get, as well as the old Deep Blue Metallic favorite.
Needless to say, it is the new Model Y's Diamond Black finish that has attracted the most attention, as Tesla tried to recreate the sparkle of a diamond facet under direct light.
The fresh Model Y Diamond Black coat of paint was already caught on pictures while a unit was charging near Tesla's public showroom in Fremont, but it's now been filmed under direct sunlight, too.
Granted, the spy shots are of a very dirty 2026 Model Y, but even so, the Diamond Black color sparkles gently as the camera moves around its finish. The video reveals both the front and the rear of the new Model Y painted in Diamond Black, and it looks very different from Tesla's previous dark-colored option.
It is much livelier, at least for a black finish, and adds a bit of pizzazz to what would've otherwise been a bit of a somber look for the new Model Y.
Tesla charges $1,500 extra for the new Diamond Black color option, though, and those who want to look classy in a black and white interior in addition to the sparkly exterior finish will have to shell out a grand more.
