Survey reveals Kindle Fire is the most unused Christmas gift

Teaser
Almost a quarter of all recipients of a Kindle Fire for Christmas may not even be using the device at all

There is no doubt that the Kindle Fire had a great sell through this past holiday season. Even Amazon touted the success of the entire Kindle family range with a dedicated press release.

Unfortunately, a large number of Kindle Fire tablets may be sitting on bookshelves unused. According to a survey conducted by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, half of the total sample size admitted that they have not touched their respective Christmas gifts for well over a month. In fact, 22 percent of these respondents claim that they had received a Kindle Fire for Christmas.

It wasn’t just the Kindle Fire that suffered, as recipients of a new iPad 2 have left the Apple tablet practically unopened as well. The same source claims that 9 percent of those who received a new iPad for Christmas have yet to remove the tablet from its original box.

Still, tablets seem to be here to stay this year, even when their practicality and utility can be a bit questionable sometimes. Google’s new ICS software is expected to boost sales of Android tablets while rumors of the next ultra-high resolution iPad have been hinting at official February or March announcements.
