Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic start receiving next round of updates
Samsung has updated the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic again, a month on from the pair's last updates. To recap, R8xxXXU1GVH2 brought the Galaxy Watch4 series onto One UI Watch 4.5, an update that debuted with the Galaxy Watch5 series. Based on Wear OS 3.5, One UI Watch 4.5 features numerous changes from One UI Watch 4 while retaining the latter's overall design language.
In comparison, R8xxXXU1GVI3 makes hardly any changes to either Galaxy Watch4 series model. According to Samsung's changelog, R8xxXXU1GVI3 'improves system stability and reliability' a phrase that almost all smartwatch manufacturers include in their changelogs. Additionally, the R8xxXXU1GVI3 applies stabilisation codes for improved watch operation. Again, Samsung has not specified what these are, nor how they should improve the operating experience on either the Galaxy Watch4 or the Galaxy Watch4 Classic.
Inexplicably, R8xxXXU1GVI3 does not upgrade the Galaxy Watch4 series' Android security patch level. Instead, this month's update keeps the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic on the August 1, 2022 patch, the same one distributed in R8xxXXU1GVH2. In other words, it is unclear what changes Samsung has made this month. Regardless, Samsung is pushing the new update out now via its Galaxy Wearable application. Typically, Samsung takes a few weeks before distributing smartwatch updates globally.
