Better late than never: Lenovo is finally going to release their 2025 workstation lineup. Their Japanese branch teased the upcoming lineup, which includes the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 with the Nvidia RTX Pro 5000, the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 as well as the brand-new ThinkPad T1g with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070.

Lenovo is late this year. HP had already pushed their new ZBook workstations to the market, as has Dell with the Dell Pro Max workstation laptops. This only leaves Lenovo of the three big suppliers in the workstation space, their 2025 ThinkPad P series is still missing. Only the AMD-based Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 and its bigger brother ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 are available, but no P series with Intel Arrow Lake or Nvidia Blackwell GPUs is to be found - yet.

Apparently, this is about to change. Lenovo Japan gave the Japanese tech magazine ITMedia an exclusive first look at the 2025 ThinkPad workstation lineup, which means that a release can not be far away at this point.

At the bottom of the food chain are the ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 Intel and P16s Gen 6 Intel, which will be available with Nvidia RTX Pro GPUs, different from their AMD counterparts. The most high-end model offered in these two will be the Nvidia RTX Pro 1000, with the laptops having a TDP of 60 to 70 W respectively - much more than the 25 W the AMD models offer.

A step up from that is the new Lenovo ThinkPad P16v Gen 3, the affordable variant of the ThinkPad P16 (v = value). This 16-inch laptop will offer the Nvidia RTX Pro 2000 with a TDP of 90 W. Far more powerful is the full-size ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 - the Arrow Lake HX based system will be released with the Nvidia RTX Pro 5000, the top of the line GPU of Nvidia's mobile lineup for workstations. In total, the P16 Gen 3 will have a TDP of 135 W.

That leaves the premium models of the ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 series and - new this year - a ThinkPad T1g Gen 8. This model seems to be a reinvented X1 Extreme, the GeForce variant of the P1. The P1 Gen 8 will be limited to the RTX Pro 2000, while the new ThinkPad T1g Gen 8 seemingly will feature the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070. The TDP of the slim premium model is rated for 95 W.

It is not clear when the new Lenovo ThinkPad models will appear on the market, but with 2025 being already more than halfway over, it is not likely Lenovo will take too long now to release them.
