The PlayStation Stars service will now be shutting down in stages, depriving players of unique rewards. But rest assured, it is possible to recover your precious points before you lose them for good.
First of all, you'll need to download and launch the free PlayStation application (Google Play | Apple App Store). When you sign in to your account, you'll be able to check whether points are available for your profile and how much there are. Here's how.
- First, open the PlayStation App on your phone.
- You then need to tap the PlayStation Stars icon.
- Tap the Rewards option.
- Next, select the reward you want. The options can differ vastly depending on where you are.
- Tap Redeem.
Many players seem to prefer PSN credits, occasionally referred to as "cash".
You have until November 26, 2026 to do this. After that date, you will no longer have access to your rewards, and you will no longer be able to use them. Please also keep in mind that the bonus points are only valid for 12 months, so the faster you make your move, the better. All in all, it would be a shame to let what's rightfully yours go to waste; some users on Reddit report having as much as 180,000 stars. Not making putting this many bonus points to any use would surely be a big waste.
Launched in 2022, the PlayStation Stars program enabled players to receive games, PSN credits, digital collectibles such as avatars and more as rewards for buying digital products like games. However, Sony was apparently unable to make it all work for everyone (Sony included) and decided to put an end to this service. New registration are not possible starting June 2025 and from July, no one will be able to earn points.
For gamers with a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, the bonus program's demise may be a significant concern. It's also worth noting that Sony isn't offering any alternatives to this program, and nothing seems to be planned for the months and years to come, leaving some perplexed.
