POCO India releases the POCO C31, a POCO C3 with a fingerprint scanner running Android 10
POCO India has expanded its range of entry-level smartphones with the POCO C31. While we thought that POCO India would announce a successor to last year's POCO C3, it has re-released the device with a fingerprint scanner as the POCO C31 instead. Accordingly, the POCO C31 is also the Redmi 9C, or Redmi 9 in India. POCO India already sells the POCO C3 in India, for reference.
As the marketing imagery below shows, the POCO C31 has a 6.53-inch display, up to 4 GB of RAM and a 5,000 mAh battery. The POCO C31 relies on a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, just like the POCO C3 and 32 GB or 64 GB of storage. The latter can be expanded via a microSD card, which POCO India complements with two SD card slots. The 13 MP primary, 2 MP secondary and 2 MP tertiary cameras from the POCO C3 remain, as does the 5 MP selfie camera.
The POCO C31 even ships with Android 10. The device will be available in India for INR 8,499 (~US$115), although POCO India will sell the device at an INR 500 (~US$7) discount when the device launches on October 2. We doubt that POCO or Xiaomi will release the device globally, seeing as the POCO C31 is already sold under different names.
