OnePlus has now disclosed the date of its next launch event, less than a day after Evan Blass shared images of two unreleased Ace 5 smartphones. Not only that, but it has confirmed that the two devices Blass leaked will be the event's main focus despite revealing details about a new 100 W GaN charger ahead of time.
Specifically, OnePlus' next event will commence at 14:30 China time on May 27, or 06:30 UTC on the same day. As the promotional video below shows, OnePlus has scheduled the event to present the Ace 5 Extreme Edition and Ace 5 Racing Edition as the third and fourth members in the series after the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro. Moreover, the company has confirmed that the pair will be available in three finishes apiece, each with a 'minimalist metal ring' lens design that houses two rear-facing cameras.
Moreover, the Ace 5 Extreme Edition will arrive next week with the Dimensity 9400+ to challenge the company's premier OnePlus 13 (curr. $949 on Amazon). The device should also complement MediaTek's latest flagship chipset with dedicated G1 eSports Wi-Fi and Lingxi touch responsive chips. Meanwhile, the Ace 5 Racing Edition will leverage the less powerful Dimensity 9400e. Unfortunately, it still remains to be seen whether OnePlus plans to offer either of these new Ace 5 smartphones under different names globally.
