Qualcomm is expected to launch its flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 sometime in the late September to early October timeframe, with smartphone OEMs soon following suit. In customary fashion, OnePlus will also be introducing its new flagships featuring the new SoC, according to known leakster Digital Chat Station (DCS).
According to DCS on Weibo, OnePlus's upcoming flagship will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850). While that's not hard to guess, the leakster also notes that the smartphone will feature a 6.78-inch flat 1.5K LTPO display.
While DCS doesn't confirm the phone's name yet, comments on the Weibo post indicate that the phone might be called the OnePlus 15 — likely, given the tendency of Chinese OEMs to avoid the number 4.
DCS also notes that the OnePlus 15 will sport an iPhone-esque design with a 50 MP triple-camera setup that also includes a periscope lens. The smartphone is touted to feature ultra-slim bezels, even borders on all sides, and is said to be lighter than the OnePlus 13. OnePlus will employ a new LIPO packaging process that is slated to deliver a more compact internal layout for the display PCB and driver hardware.
The purported reduction to a 1.5K display in the OnePlus 15 from the 2K (3168 x 1440) resolution of the OnePlus 13 is an interesting aspect. The slightly lower resolution is likely a result of reduced diagonal screen size from 6.82 inches to 6.78 inches. Given that the upcoming OnePlus flagship is rumored to sport a massive 7,800 mAh battery, the reduced pixel count should theoretically help in longer battery run times as well.
We are still some time away from any official announcement of the OnePlus 15, so do take things with a pinch of salt for now. If tradition holds, OnePlus can be expected to first announce its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2-powered flagship for the Chinese market in Q4 2025 followed by a global launch in January 2026.
Meanwhile, the company is prepping to ride the compact flagship wave with the impending launch of the 6.32-inch OnePlus 13s featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC in the coming weeks.
