Nvidia is expanding its hiring efforts in Taiwan as it plans to open a second research and development facility in the region. Domestic outlets are reporting that the company is offering annual salaries of up to NT$5.5 million (approximately US$180,000) to recruit experienced engineers, especially those from leading companies such as TSMC.
As EBC News reports, senior engineers are being attracted by industry-leading salaries in a new Nvidia operation. The push comes as Nvidia seeks to elevate its R&D investment in Taiwan, known as “Silicon Island” for its global role in semiconductor manufacturing, to the next level. Local media describe the recruitment drive as aggressive, reporting that Nvidia’s generous pay packages are significantly shaking up the tech talent landscape.
Although the salaries being offered are relatively modest compared to Silicon Valley itself, Taiwan’s cost of living is significantly lower, and other tech-sector perks are also available. Therefore, the positions are likely to be fiercely contested.
Nvidia’s increased hiring likely shows its long-term commitment to regional expansion, leveraging Taiwan’s engineering expertise to gain a competitive advantage in the rapidly growing AI and semiconductor sectors.
