Nintendo has officially confirmed its participation in Gamescom 2025, marking its return to Europe’s largest gaming expo after skipping last year’s edition. The event, set to run from August 20–24 in Cologne, Germany. The event comes just two months after the global launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which may help keep momentum high and draw more hands-on attention to its latest console
This announcement was made via Nintendo Germany’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, with the company stating: “Mark your calendar in red: Nintendo will be back at Gamescom 2025. We look forward to welcoming you in Cologne from August 20 to 24!”
What to Expect from Nintendo at Gamescom 2025
While Nintendo has not disclosed its exact lineup for the show, several upcoming first-party titles and enhanced editions are expected to be featured. This may include Donkey Kong: Bananza, Drag X Drive, Mario Kart World, Pokémon Legends Z-A, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and more.
These titles are expected to be available for hands-on demos, allowing attendees - and potential Switch 2 buyers - to experience Nintendo’s next-gen performance in person.
In addition, 12 existing Nintendo Switch titles, including Super Mario Odyssey, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, will receive free Switch 2 upgrades at launch. These include resolution and framerate boosts, and GameShare functionality, which is Nintendo’s new multiplayer feature allowing co-op across multiple consoles with just one game copy.
That being said, Nintendo Switch 2 will be released across the globe on June 5th, 2025. The console will be $449.99 in the United States, £395.99 in the United Kingdom, and €469.99 in Europe.
