New Steam game Barkour lets you play as a spy dog in this stealth action-adventure, trailer, demo and release date revealed
A new Steam game where you play as a dog, more specifically a German Shepherd on a secret mission, has released a new trailer and is heading to the platform this year. Barkour, as it’s called, is developed by Varsav Game Studios, who are also working on another title, The Path of Clydra, an upcoming 3D adventure platformer set in a fantasy world with a release window that has not yet been revealed.
What's the game about
Players take control of Agent T.H.U.N.D.E.R., which the game describes as "a tail-wagging canine with a knack for parkour, gadgets and barking at villains." The trailer of the game shows the canine protagonist using various high-tech military gadgets including a stealth cloak, stun mines, and a freeze gun. Moreover, the game also features stealth takedowns as the four-legged hero seems to be highly adept at the art of covert military operations.
What people are saying
People's reaction to the new trailer is mostly positive and many seem excited. One viewer remarked that it has “a lot more of the old-school PS1, N64-era vibe” and praised its fun, slightly silly tone. Another said, “Finally!!! After all the so-so cat games and 20 goat games, we get a pretty cool-looking dog game for everyone else,” noting its unique premise. A third compared the opening ship landing to Ratchet & Clank on the PS2, saying it instantly brought back memories of arriving on new planets in the series.
Barkour game launch date
Barkour is available to wishlist right now on Steam and is set to release in 2025, with no specific date at the time of writing. However, the game is currently playable at the Tokyo Game Show, held between September 25–28. A demo for the game will be available for everyone to play on October 2, 2025.
