Lenovo quietly releases Tab P12 Matte Display with paper-like display coating
Lenovo has released the Tab P12 Matte Display, a few weeks after the tablet leaked extensively online through Windows Report. While the tablet is orderable in the Eurozone, it is hard-pressed to find. For some reason, Lenovo has not publicised the Tab P12 Matte Display in any capacity. Instead, it has merely listed the tablet on its French website, where it can be purchased for €449.
As expected, Lenovo equips the Tab P12 Matte Display with a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, as well as 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage and a 10,200 mAh battery that supports 20 W charging. In other words, the new tablet contains much of the same hardware as the regular Tab P12 (curr. $339 on Amazon). Likewise, the Tab P12 Matte Display has a 12.7-inch display that outputs at 2,944 x 1,840 pixels with 400 nits peak brightness.
However, the new tablet has what Lenovo describes as a 'paper-like' coating that should deliver the impression that you are writing on paper when using Lenovo's Tab Pen Plus. Theoretically, the matte coating should be particularly easy on the eye too, and will diffuse reflections where the Tab P12 cannot. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when Lenovo will begin selling the Tab P12 Matte Display in other markets; please see our original Tab P12 review for hardware impressions.
