Lenovo is introducing a new 5G router that supports three SIM cards and dual-band WiFi. This should allow for high and stable internet speeds, although there’s one rather significant limitation.

The Lenovo Xiaoxin 5G CPE is a new 5G router that works with up to three SIM cards. SIM cards for China Mobile and China Unicom are included, and there’s an additional slot available. This already constitutes the one major caveat of this product, as the Lenovo Xiaoxin 5G CPE is only purchasable in China for the time being. It costs the equivalent of $86 and it’s entirely unclear if the router will ever launch in other markets.

Devices can be connected via WiFi 6 via the usual 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. OFDMA and MIMO are supported, and the Lenovo router supports download rates of up to 2Gbit/s and upload speeds of up to 900Mbit/s. In case there is no 5G signal, the router can fall back on 4G LTE networks, which would result in noticeably slower internet speeds.

The Lenovo Xiaoxin 5G CPE can handle up to 24 devices that can be connected via WiFi or Gigabit Ethernet. Last but not least, the 5G router is powered by the passively cooled Unisoc V510 with 512MB RAM.
