The Tucson is one of Hyundai's most successful models worldwide. According to Motor1, a radical change is on the cards for the new generation: the future SUV will adopt the "Art of Steel" design, making it appear more angular, robust and closer to classic off-road vehicles. Elements of the Santa Fe, the Kona and the upcoming Ioniq 9 will be incorporated into the design language.
Design
The rendering shows a front end with a continuous LED strip and lower-set headlights. At the rear, sleek taillights and a steeper tailgate are expected to provide more cargo space. Dimensions may grow slightly beyond the current 4.50 meters, keeping the Tucson positioned in the C-segment.
Interior with a new operating system
The cockpit will feature Hyundai's proprietary Pleos operating system for the first time, which is fully networked and comes with an integrated AI voice assistant, "Gleo". Large displays will be combined with modern assistance systems and traditional controls for key functions. In doing so, Hyundai aims to maintain a balance between modern digitalization and proven operating logic. As before, the Tucson is expected to impress with a high level of everyday utility and generous space, making it a key model in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
Electrified powertrains and a possible Tucson N
The engine range will be fully electrified. In addition to mild hybrids and full hybrids, a plug-in hybrid with a purely electric range of up to 100 kilometers is planned, according to Motor1. This would put Hyundai on par with its latest competitors.
N variant
The prospect of an N variant is particularly exciting. According to Auto Express, Hyundai is developing a sporty version with a hybrid drive. A 1.6-liter turbo engine is expected, combined with a powerful electric system and all-wheel drive, producing a total of around 300 hp. Hyundai N Vice President Joon Park announced that the new hybrid sports models will be "more agile, lighter, and more exciting", ushering in a new era for the N division.
Outlook
The premiere of the new Hyundai Tucson is scheduled for 2026. With a more angular design, modern handling, expanded hybrid powertrains, and the possible introduction of a sporty Tucson N, the fourth generation of the SUV could well build upon the model's success story and set new standards in the segment.
