Honor Pad 9 breaks cover with paper-like display
After making rounds on Chinese social media platforms, the Honor Pad 9 has been officially launched in China. It starts what the brand calls the "revolution of eye protection." With this, Honor is mainly saying that the display is focused on offering a comfortable viewing experience.
To achieve that, the Pad 9 equips a "paper-like eye-protecting soft light matte screen." Honor says that this 12.1-inch display can reduce 98% of specular reflection. The brand has also emphasized that the tablet sports five layers of eye protection.
Besides, with the "natural light-like" eye protection tech, the Pad 9 claims to reduce visual fatigue by 14%. Honor has also integrated a "sleep aid display function" and "hardware-level low blue light" to enhance viewing comfort further. All this is said to "increase melatonin secretion by 20%."
Interestingly, Honor is offering a "normal screen" version of the Pad 9 alongside the "Soft Light" version. Aside from the display, the rest of the specs of the two different editions are the same. On that note, the tablet has a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 under the hood. It's paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage (Soft Light edition capped at 256 GB).
In addition, the Honor Pad 9 incorporates eight surround speakers to offer an immersive listening experience. Battery-wise, the tablet packs an 8300 mAh cell that can charge at 35 watts.
As for the pricing, the "normal screen" edition starts at CNY1599, which is around $224. On the other hand, the "Soft Light" version starts at CNY1899, which is about $270. Honor has yet to announce details regarding the global availability of the Pad 9. But if you want something in the same price range with similar display features, TCL NxtPaper 11 is a good option. It's currently going for $229.99 on Amazon.
