MWC 2024 | Honor Magic6 RSR Porsche Design teased as likely Magic6 Pro special edition smartphone
Honor has teased a new edition in the Magic6 series, which it will launch as the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design. For context, the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design is Honor's second Porsche Design collaboration after the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design, UK and European pricing for which has also been revealed today. Incidentally, Honor's MWC 2024 showcase consists of the Magic6 Pro too, along with the MagicBook Pro 16 and Pad 9.
While the company has provided various details about those four devices, it has said less so about the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design. In fact, the company only outlined the following about the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design in its press release:
a smartphone that also embodies the DNA of Porsche Design. The PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic6 RSR resembles a bold motorsports-inspired appearance with its centered, high-performance camera sitting within a geometric structure that references the aesthetics of a Porsche racecar.
Although the statement above does not provide too many details about the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design, Honor included a few more tidbits during its MWC 2024 presentation. On the one hand, the company implies that the device has a hexagonal camera housing, unlike its other Magic6 devices. On the other hand, Honor briefly showed an inscription '100X', a term that likely refers to the device's digital zoom capabilities.
For reference, the Magic6 only delivers up to 50x digital zoom. In comparison, the 180 MP telephoto camera in the Magic6 Pro allows it to achieve 100x digital magnification. Consequently, it would seem that the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design is actually a version of the Magic6 Pro and not the Magic6 as its name suggests. Currently, Honor anticipates unveiling more details about the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design in March 2024, presumably first in China if the Magic6 Pro and Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design are anything to go by.
