Ninja Theory's critically acclaimed title will be playable on the Sony PlayStation 5 at the same time as other platforms get a free visual and performance upgrade for 2025

Ninja Theory has officially announced that the highly anticipated Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will roll out for the PlayStation 5 on August 12, 2025. This announcement finally cements the debut of the critically acclaimed action-adventure Xbox title on Sony’s platform. Hellblade II’s PS5 release will also coincide with a major ‘Enhanced’ upgrade for the Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Hellblade II’s Enhanced Edition will introduce a host of improvements, including a new 60 FPS Performance Mode across the board, precluding only the Xbox Series S. This is a big jump over the 30FPS cap with dynamic resolution, where the game would sometimes drop below the targeted framerate during graphically intensive scenes.

PC players will also be able to enjoy a new “Very High” graphical preset, which pushes the already impressive visuals of Hellblade II even further. Steam Deck users will be happy to know that the game is getting Steam Deck Verified on the same day as the Enhanced Edition makes its way to the platform.

Besides graphical and performance upgrades, Hellblade II delivers new gameplay content, such as the return of the Dark Rot Mode from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The Dark Rot grows and spreads to Senua’s head, upon which, all game progress is lost.

The game also introduces an updated Photo Mode, featuring tools like the “Motion Tab” for cinematic game capture. Four hours of developer commentary are also included in the Enhanced edition, giving players insight and understanding into the development of Hellblade II’s psychosis-fueled atmosphere.

Hellblade II’s Enhanced edition will launch on August 12, 2025, for the PlayStation 5, offering a $49.99 Standard Edition for the base game. The Deluxe Edition, priced at $69.99, also bundles a PS5-optimized version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and a copy of its soundtrack.

Adding to the list of bonuses, PS4 owners of Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice will enjoy a free upgrade to the PS5 version.

Hellblade II’s arrival on the PlayStation platform marks another Xbox first-party title edging an end to console exclusivity. Three major Microsoft-owned games dominated the PS5’s most-downloaded charts recently.
These are The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Forza Horizon 5, and Minecraft, which ranked as some of the best-selling games on the PlayStation charts in the U.S. and Canada for April.
