HP unveils Pavilion x2 hybrid and refreshed Envy laptops

The new Pavilion x2 will be priced at just $300 while the refreshed Envy will start at $629.

HP just announced its new Pavilion x2 hybrid laptop aimed at budget savvy customers, as well as refreshed Envy series laptops.

The HP Pavilion x2, featuring a 10-inch detachable HD (1366x768 pixels) IPS screen and a quad-core Intel Atom (Bay Trail) processor has been priced at just $300. When detached, its screen weighs just 1.29 pounds at 9.65 mm of thickness (2.48 lbs / 16.75 mm with keyboard attached). The device uses a magnetic latch that lets the user easily reorient the laptop into „stand” or „tent” position”.

It comes with a USB-C connector for charging, power and data transfers, a full size USB 2.0 and HDMI output, as well as a micro-SD card reader. There’s 2 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of storage space on board. The battery allows for up to 10 hours of opertation.

The x2 comes in „Blizzard White”, „Sunset Red” and „Turbo Silver” color options. It will be available starting July 21st.

The refreshed HP Envy line laptops come in three sizes: 14, 15.6 and 17-inch. The two smallest ones feature a new designed with a hinge that increases the angle of the keyboard when the screen is pushed backwards.

The 14 and 15.6-inch models come with a choice of 5th gen. Core i5 and i7 processors (with an option for a 6th gen. AMD FX and A10 on the 15.6-inch Envy), GeForce 940M or GTX 950M graphics (optional Radeon R7 or R6 on 15.6 inch). Up to 2 TB of storage with a choice between hybrid drive or SSD (1 TB option on AMD models) and up to 16 GB of RAM on Intel models and up to 8 GB on AMD ones.

The 14-inch Envy comes with HD or FullHD displays and the 15.6-inch one will be available with HD, FullHD or QuadHD with optional touch capability. The AMD-based models come with HD displays (both touch-enabled and regular).

According to HP, the battery life is up to 10 hours on the 14-inch model and up to 9.5 hours on the Intel-based 15.6-inch one (max. of 7.5 hours on AMD).

The 17-inch Envy comes equipped with 5th gen. Core i7 CPU, GeForce 940M or GTX 950M graphics, a FullHD IPS display with optional touch and up to 4 TB of storage.

Pricing starts at $699 for the 14-inch, $629 for AMD-based and $799 for Intel-based 15.6-inch and $999 for the 17-inch. The new Envy models should start hitting the market in July.
