Fujifilm X100VI specs leak claims 6.2k video chops, supply chain fix to avoid unobtanium status

As the February 20 Fujifilm X-Summit, where we expect to see the announcement of the new X100VI, approaches, leaks and rumours about the upcoming compact APS-C camera are coming hard and fast. The last leak gave us a glimpse at what appears to be the X100VI's body, looking nearly identical to the X100V. More recently, however, Fujirumors posted a supposed leaked spec sheet along with news that the X100VI will be made in China, rather than Japan.

The supposed spec sheet claims that the Fujifilm X100VI will have expanded video capabilities, with added support for 6.2K video at 30 fps. It also alleges a single UHS-I slot, limiting the camera's potential somewhat for professional use.

Other highlights include a lower native base ISO of 125 instead of the 160 found in the X100V. It also claims that the EVF remains virtually unchanged at 3.69 million dots, while the electronic shutter speed is boosted to the same minimum 1/180,000 sec. as the Fujifilm X-T5 (curr. $1,699 on Amazon) from which it borrows its 40 MP sensor.

Presumably to address issues relating to supply, Fujifilm will apparently be manufacturing the X100VI in China instead of Japan. One of the hallmark features of the Fujifilm X100 line-up is that the cameras were all made in Japan, and there has been speculation that this manufacturing source could be partially to blame for the camera's previous supply shortages that endured even after the end of the pandemic.

This latest leak reconfirms the notion that the combination of the X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 will introduce AI-powered autofocus and subject tracking, similar to what we saw with the Fujifilm X-S20 (curr. $1,469 on Amazon with a 15–45 mm kit lens and starter kit). While the upcoming compact APS-C rangefinder-style camera might not be stacking up to be a game-changer, it certainly looks to be a worthy successor to the venerable Fujifilm X100V.
