Cyberport has revealed the price of what will probably be the flagship SKU of the new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15, and it is expensive. At €2,799, the ROG Zephyrus G15 features an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS APU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU a 165 Hz display with a native 1440p resolution. There is only one SO-DIMM slot though, with ASUS soldering 8 GB of RAM to the motherboard.

ASUS announced multiple gaming laptops at CES 2021 this week, including an upgraded ROG Zephyrus G14. The original ROG Zephyrus G14 impressed us, but top tier SKUs were expensive. The Ryzen 9 4900HS and GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q model that we reviewed in March retailed for US$1,900, making it expensive even by gaming laptop standards.

While ASUS is yet to announce the pricing of the new ROG Zephyrus G14, Cyberport has revealed how much its bigger sibling, the ROG Zephyrus G15, will cost. ASUS also announced the new ROG Zephyrus G15 at CES 2021, but it held back on revealing many specifications or configurations.

According to Cyberport, ASUS will equip the flagship version of the ROG Zephyrus G15 with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS APU, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU with 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM and 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. Additionally, the machine has a 1 TB SSD and a 1440p display. There are some things to note with the ROG Zephyrus G15, though.

On the one hand, Cyberport claims that the machine only has one SO-DIMM slot, with the onboard 16 GB of RAM split between 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB SO-DIMM module. This should mean that the ROG Zephyrus G15 supports dual-channel memory, but not if you upgrade it to 24 GB of RAM - the machine's maximum capacity. On the other hand, its 15.6-inch display peaks at 300 nits, but it has 3 ms response times, a refresh rate of 165 Hz and is Pantone validated.

This model also costs €2,799, which may seem a lot on the face of it. However, that price includes VAT, so the equivalent SKU in the US should retail for a lot less. Moreover, the ROG Zephyrus G15 costs €200 less than an equivalent Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition. The latter has a faster display and two SO-DIMM slots, but you lose the Ryzen 5000 series APU.

Many thanks to Sven for the tip!
