Dark and Darker, the extraction-based dungeon crawler by Ironmace Games, will soon be completely unplayable via the Epic Games Store. In an official email sent to users, Epic confirmed that while the game was already delisted in March 2025, it will now be removed from all player libraries on November 1, 2025, following a court decision in South Korea involving Nexon and Ironmace.
Players who purchased the Legendary Status upgrade within the game will receive full refunds. Epic says the refunds will be credited back to the original payment method where possible. In cases where that isn’t feasible, the refunded amount will be transferred to the player’s Epic account balance. However, no refunds will be issued for Redstone Shards, the game’s microtransaction currency, though existing shards will remain usable until the game’s final delisting date.
While the paid version is being pulled, it’s worth noting that Dark and Darker was briefly available for free on the Epic Games Store during its 2024 holiday giveaway event. The offer, which included the full Legendary Status edition, ran for just 24 hours between December 23 and 24. It was part of Epic’s now-annual practice of giving away one premium title per day in the run-up to New Year's.
After its removal from Epic, players will still be able to play the game on other platforms where it's officially supported, such as Chaf Games (Ironmace’s proprietary launcher). It’s unclear how long support will continue there, as the legal dispute is still unresolved.
Players who haven’t received a refund by July 1, 2025, are advised to contact Epic’s customer support directly.
