The Edifier Doo Ace is a new pair of on-ear headphones with a design and features that makes it a rival to model from bigger brands such as the Sony WH-CH520 and the Beats Solo 4.
The Doo Ace headphones have an eye-catching design with the mesh-covered earcups that reminds one of a microphone and its slim but adjustable headband. The headphones are also pretty light, weighing just 100 grams compared to the 147 grams of the Sony WH-CH520 (curr. available on Amazon for $38) and the 217 grams of the Beats Solo 4. Unfortunately, Edifier's headphones don't have a foldable design, thus preventing them from being folded into a more compact size.
On the technical side, the Edifier Doo Ace headphones have 32mm drivers and AI noise reduction. They connect via Bluetooth 6.0 and support Bluetooth Multipoint which allows for simultaneous connection to two Bluetooth devices. There's also an audio jack for a wired audio connection, and an app for modifying audio presets. Furthermore, Edifier says the headphones can serve as a camera remote shutter for a connected smartphone and also boast a game mode with reduced latency.
The Doo Ace headphones support only the SBC codec in addition to A2DP, AVRCP, and HFP Bluetooth profiles. The battery life is advertised to be 25 hours which falls significantly short of the Sony WH-CH520's advertised 50 hours. Nevertheless, Edifier's headphones support fast charging as a 15-minute charge will provide up to 5 hours of use.
Available in Mother-of-Pearl White, Sunset Orange, Earth Brown, and Secret Night Blue, the Edifier Doo Ace on-ear headphones carry a price tag of CNY 229 (~$32/€28). They are currently exclusive to China for now and there's no info with regard to a global release.
