Low-voltage gaming machine?. A 17-inch ultrabook? No, a thick 17-inch device with an ultrabook processor and mainstream graphics. Why does Dell not integrate a standard voltage CPU? Does the gaming performance suffer? Our review with an extensive gaming check gives the answers.

Really big laptops don't get as much love as they used to, but there are still plenty of people who appreciate these beasts, primarily because they have roomy keyboards, big screens and (usually) lots of built-in features. Dell's Inspiron 17R is a big unit that's suitable as a desktop replacement-style notebook.

In a rather strange twist, Dell has taken a normal-sized 17-inch laptop and fitted it with an Ultrabook processor and and discrete graphics. The Dell Inspiron 17R-5721 features a new exterior, a comfortable keyboard and solid performance.

17.3": Meanwhile the 17 inch display size is a more frequently offered standard format for desktop-replacements. The DTR-laptops can't be carried easily, need much energy but on the other side texts can be read easily and high resolutions are no problem. DTR mainly are intended for stationary usage on desks, where the weight and the energy need are unimportant.
