Reviews for the Dell Inspiron 15R-5521
The golden mean. With its Inspiron 15R-5521, Dell shows a rather unusual combination of energy-saving ULV processor and dedicated middle class GPU. The efficient components do not only indicate a moderate energy demand, but also a long battery life. We have tested the top-class model with AMD's brand new Radeon HD 8730M.

The Dell Inspiron 15R is back in this somewhat inconsistent 2013 edition. This year's Dell Inspiron 15R is an inconsistent product. It has great processor performance, a very nice body and good battery life, but the screen and sound quality are so bad it would be hard for us to recommend it full-heartedly.

There’s no doubt the Dell Inspiron 15R is a classy-looking machine, and there’s much to like about it, not least the responsive touchscreen, superb keyboard and slick design. However, there’s plenty of competition at this price point, not least Sony’s VAIO Fit 15E, and with that poor display blotting its copybook, it isn't the budget all-rounder we might have hoped for.

Dell's Inspiron 15R-5521 runs an ultra-low voltage CPU that can supply excellent battery life, though it's a big model that's not easy to travel with. It has a touchscreen and a solid configuration, but it could use much better networking facilities.

Dell hardly puts a foot wrong with the Inspiron 15R, providing a well-built laptop with good performance and an attractive screen for just under £500. Battery life is a particular strength too, and ensures that the Inspiron 15R will earn its keep for both work and play.

Model:
Dell's Inspiron laptops were aimed at entry level and budget mobile computing for some time, but now Dell appears to focus on mid-range computing and stay modest at pricing. The Dell Inspiron 15R comes with a 15.6-inch WLED screen and a standard resolution of 1366 x 768. It’s definitely a better multimedia experience and it is also available with touchscreen. Four choices of color – red, pink, blue and silver, give it some personalized touch. Powered by an Intel i5 processor and Windows 8, it is a good offer for every application requirements. The bigger screen improve the multimedia experience. In addition, the battery is estimated to about 6 hours, which could provide enough time to sit thru your transit time with ease.
The high-gloss finishing of the LED screen proved to be distracting, as the reflection is too heavy to be ignored. With 2.3 kg, a backpack is required for carrying it. Nevertheless, the Dell Inspiron has been reliable and continues to be. So, the 15R is a safe choice for newbies in mobile computing. It is indeed great bundle with wider than normal screen and a worry-free 1 year warranty for an affordable price.

The Dell Inspiron 15R-5521 was built to be cost and energy efficient. Dell offers this model in a few different configurations, ranging from a Core i3-3217U to Core i5-3317U for better performance. In terms of graphics, models are equipped with Intel's integrated graphics up to the powerful AMD Radeon HD 8730M. Regardless of your configuration, it is a cheap laptop. The sturdy case is mainly made from plastics and the 1366X768 display is satisfactory. With 2.2 kg, the laptop is surprisingly light for a 15 inch laptop and its size seems compact and space saving. A fun feature is that the laptop is optionally available in pink, red, silver or blue.
Battery life is a strength, which is improved by energy-saving ULV processors. It can easily last for 6 hours during web browsing and light tasks. With Wi-Fi off, it could run a full day of light use on a single charge. The ports are little clustered around the edges, which can lead to unwanted disconnections during use – but this should not be an issue for those who are on the go. Although the Dell is not designed as desktop replacement, it can be comfortably used as such. To summarize, Dell's Inspiron 15R-5521 delivers a great, customizalbe performance and a sturdy build for an affordable price.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
