With an 8.7-inch screen, the Teclast T50 Mini is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Apple iPad mini, which currently retails for $399 on Amazon. According to Teclast's promotional material, the T50 Mini is supposedly ideal for gaming enthusiasts, who can play games directly on the touchscreen or mount the thin tablet on a mobile controller.
Furthermore, Teclast has opted for a 120Hz IPS panel whose refresh rate can dynamically adapt to the content on screen, while a 240Hz touch sampling rate is intended to reduce input latency. However, the MediaTek Helio G99 isn't exactly a powerful gaming processor. Therefore, the tablet is primarily suitable for emulating retro games, playing less demanding Android games or even streaming them from the cloud. The remaining spec sheet reveals 8GB RAM and 128GB of flash storage, which can be expanded via a microSD.
The Teclast T50 Mini also sports a 5,100mAh battery, a 5MP selfie camera and 13MP main camera. The tablet ships with Android 15 and Widevine L1 support, which means that content from Netflix should be streamable in Full-HD resolution. Additionally, the compact tablet has integrated stereo speakers and an LTE modem, which allows for browsing the web on the go. While Teclast does ship the T50 Mini with the latest Android 15, the company does not specify if the device will receive major operating system updates at all.
Price and availability
The Teclast T50 Mini has been listed on AliExpress for $219, but shipping to the US does not seem to be available at this point in time. That said, Teclast usually ends up selling its products on Amazon sooner or later.
