Casio is about to launch the AE-1000W-5AV and AE-1000W-8AV watches in Europe. These new AE-1000W series wearables were spotted on the brand’s international website at the start of May and were then released in the US about a week later.
You will soon be able to buy the Casio AE-1000W-5AV, and AE-1000W-8AV watches in European countries like the Netherlands, Spain and Germany for €39.90. This is the same price as the older AE-1000W-1AV, which arrived in this market in 2022. All three versions have a black resin bezel and casing, but the 5AV has a beige resin strap with beige/yellow accents on the face, and the 8AV has a gray resin strap and light blue accents
The Casio AE-1000W watches are said to have cockpit-style gauges with four digital displays. The largest of these shows the time, weekday and date. Users can save up to four world time zones to quickly switch between, with a list of 48 cities to choose from. The current time zone is indicated on a small map above, and the time in your home city is shown on an analog-style liquid crystal display.
Other features include a 1/100 seconds stopwatch, a countdown timer and five daily alarms. Plus, an amber LED backlight ensures you can read the watch at night, and it is expected to run for 10 years on a replaceable CR2025 battery. The AE-1000W is described as a durable watch, measuring 48.2 x 45 x 13.8 mm (~1.9 x 1.8 x 0.5 inches) and weighing 40 g (~1.4 oz). Casio has yet to announce when the AE-1000W-5AV and AE-1000W-8AV watches will launch in Europe and whether or not they will reach the UK.
