Lego has unveiled its most expensive and ambitious set to date, known as the Lego Star Wars Death Star - Ultimate Collectors Series (75419), priced at $999.99 in the U.S., £899.99 in the UK, and €999.99 in Europe, making it the most expensive Lego set released to date.
The Lego Star Wars Death Star features a staggering 9,023 pieces, surpassing the iconic Millennium Falcon set, which retailed at $849.99 and featured 7,541 pieces. The Death Star measures 20.6 inches in height, 18.9 inches in width, and is 15.9 inches deep.
The set features a cross-sectional diorama of the Galactic Empire’s battle station, featuring recreations from Star Wars: A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. The set features the trash compactor, Emperor Palpatine’s throne room, Princess Leia’s cell, and the tractor beam control unit. The Death Star features 38 minifigures, including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Emperor Palpatine, and a hot tub of Stormtroopers.
The pricing of the Lego Death Star has sparked a debate amongst the Lego and Star Wars communities, with some ridiculing the $999.99 price tag. Furthermore, the 40771 TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack set is included as a GWP or Gift With Purchase, only available from October 1 to October 7, 2025.
However, fans are unhappy with the limited-run GWP Tie Fighter, as some users state that it feels like a DLC or pre-order bonus. Users expressed that the TIE Fighter Lego set should be included alongside the Death Star.
The Lego Death Star set will be available for Lego Insiders early access from October 1, 2025, via Lego.com/Star-Wars and select Lego Stores, with general availability starting on October 4, 2025. Furthermore, Lego Insiders will redeem 6,500 points for one of 5,000 limited-edition posters.
This launch coincides with Lego’s 25th anniversary of creating Star Wars sets. However, the $1000 price point has fueled debates online amid broader economic constraints, including rising tariffs in the U.S. The new Death Star Lego set scale has impressed many, with some calling it a “Collector’s dream.” However, some fans have questioned the set’s value owing to exclusivity and pricing.
