Apropos to AMD's official unveiling of Ryzen 7000 AM5 platform, Asus launched its first X670E motherboard: the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme. The X670E Extreme offers a complete PCIe Gen 5 solution and features 20+2 phase VRMs and other flagship components for enthusiast overclocking and ease of installation and upgrades.

Asus revealed its first AMD X670E offering at Computex 2022 — the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme. The ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme features the company's signature AniMe Matrix design and is made to allow easy installation and upgrades while also enabling enthusiast overclocking.

The AniMe Matrix-enabled I/O shroud also helps keep the VRMs cool. The matrix display is also preset on the heatsink that covers the chipset and onboard M.2 slots. There are two addressable RGB headers along with an AURA RGB header that can all be kept in sync via Aura Sync.

Asus said that the X670E Extreme features what the company calls a Q-Design that allows users to easily release their hefty GPUs from the PCIe slot. Other Q-Design elements include a single Q-DIMM latch for easily securing the DIMMs in place, Q-Latch for the M.2 slot, and a Q-LED diagnostic array.

The ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme offers full DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5 support. There's also USB4 support along with a front panel USB 3.2 Gen2x2 connector that supports QuickCharge 4+ 60 W charging.

The X670E Extreme can support five M.2 NVMe SSDs: two via onboard M.2 PCIe Gen 5 slots and another three via the ROG PCIe 5.0 M.2 or the ROG GEN-Z.2 expansion card. You will be able to get PCIe Gen 5 x4 connectivity from four of these five slots. Additionally, there are a total of six SATA 6 Gbps ports available for mass storage.

Asus is yet to fully detail the specifications of the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme. However, we get to know that the board offers a 20+2 phase 110A VRM design, MicroFine alloy chokes, premium 10K black metallic caps, six fan headers, sensors for liquid flow monitoring, ProCool II power connectors, and the works.

Network connectivity needs are addressed via onboard Wi-Fi 6E, Intel 2.5G LAN, and a Marvell AQtion 10G controller. A ROG SupremeFX ALC4082 7.1 codec paired with an ESS ES9218PQ quad-DAC handles the audio. Asus says that the ESS DAC offers a high 130 dB SNR for front-panel audio.

Asus is showing off the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme today, but the company promises many more models across the ROG, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, ProArt, and Prime families in the coming days.
