Reviews for the Asus VivoBook S200E-C158H

80% Asus VivoBook S200E review: lightweight budget laptop offers decent performance
Source: PC Advisor English
Our only real complaint about the S200E is the annoyingly reflective screen. Performance and battery life are respectable rather than outstanding, but the S200E offers an attractive, lightweight design and build quality that are rarely seen in laptops costing less than £500.

It is 30x20x1.5cm, it weights 1416grams. The 1.5cm thickness is maximum as at the front and back it is only 1cm thick. Finally months after its release I receive a small touch notebook designed for Windows 8. While the 11inch screen may be a little small for some the touch features work well as you will naturally sit with the screen well within reach.

ASUS VivoBook S200: Proper hardware for Windows 8
Source: Inside HW English
The only real drawback of this model actually has little to do with ASUS. Of course, we’re talking about the operating system, which is far from polished. A bunch of bugs, blue screens, ill-optimised apps and illogical solutions have become Windows 8’s undeniable reality. Whether Microsoft will attempt to fix all these or leave the OS to its fate as they did with Vista remains to be seen.

The Asus is small but heavy, premium but with budget shortfalls - overall, it's a compromise for the price tag. We love the keyboard and design once open, but the lacklustre screen does disappoint. The Acer Aspire S3 is just one example which leaves us considering smaller, cheaper netbooks or budget ultrabooks over this Notebook which tries hard to bring Windows 8 skills at a budget price but falls at crucial hurdles - 3 hour battery life is poor and the weight is unappealing given the screen size. Great price is money is tight, though.

A good value netbook with the power to handle all but the most specialist of work and play tasks With a whole host of weird and wonderful Win 8 devices hitting the shops, this ultra-portable, ultra-useful, ultra-touchy 11.6in Asus leads the pack. Is this finger-friendly netbook worth it?

Despite its flaws, though, we really like this laptop. Asus' VivoBook S200 is compact, attractive and cheap, a combination Ultrabooks have so far abjectly failed to deliver. For just £450, this petite model is a compelling demonstration of how the traditional laptop and the touch features of Windows 8 can live in affordable harmony.

We're writing this review on it now and simply can't find anything wrong with it at all, which is often not the case with laptops of this size and price. So there you have it. The Asus VivoBook S200 is a brilliant little laptop which offers supreme good looks, slick performance and excellent portability, and all for a highly agreeable price.
