Reviews for the Asus N80VN

Built for professionals who require a bit more 3D muscle than most business notebooks offer, the Asus N80Vn-A1 ($999) delivers solid performance and state-of-the-art security technology in a durable 14-inch chassis. It suffers from a few flaws, however, including subpar battery life (attributable to its discrete graphics) and a temperamental touch pad. The Asus N80Vn-A1offers a nice assortment of business-friendly features and enough horsepower to handle your office workload, but we’d prefer longer battery life from a 14-inch notebook.

NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GT: The GeForce 9650M GT is a higher clocked 9600M GT but because of the die shrink from 65nm to 55nm the current consumption stays the same. The performance of the higher clocked chip should be up to 20% faster than the 9600M GT.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
P7350:
Entry level Core 2 Duo processor with 3 MB Level 2 Cache and due to the 25 Watt TDP also suited for 13" laptops.

14.1": 14 inch display size is a mixture between the small formats of subnotebooks and the 15 inch standard display. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.6 kg: This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated, a Taiwanese multinational company, produces motherboards, graphics cards, optical drives, PDAs, computer monitors, notebook computers, servers, networking products, mobile phones, computer cases, computer components, and computer cooling systems. The company's 2007 revenues reached US$6.9 billion. ASUS also produces components for other manufacturers. The Eee PC initiated the netbook boom in 2008.
82%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
