To celebrate Black History Month, Apple has unveiled a brand new watch band for the Apple Watch. The Black Unity Braided Solo Loop contains 16,000 interwoven threads made from recycled polyester yarn and is inspired by Afrofuturism. In addition, the Apple Watch finally supports ray tracing, but only through a new watch face.

Apple has started offering the braided Solo Loop in a new Black Unity colourway in celebration of Black History Month. Available in multiple markets, the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop costs US$99 in the US and €99 in the Eurozone. Hence, the Black Unity edition costs just as much as every other braided Solo Loop.

According to the product description, Afrofuturism inspired Apple, which it describes as 'a philosophy that explores the experience of the African Diaspora through' self-empowerment, science and technology. Like other Braided Solo Loops, Apple offers the Black Unity bracelet sizes; Braided Solo Loops are not adjustable. Also, the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop is waterproof and is compatible with all Apple Watch models from the first generation onwards.

Additionally, Apple has released a Black Unity watch face, which is available on all recent Apple Watch devices. Incidentally, the new watch face relies on ray tracing and supports two colours. Fullscreen and round versions of the watch face are available too; complications can only be chosen on the latter version, though. The Black Unity Braided Solo Loop is shipping now in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes.
