AYN Technologies has now released the AYN Odin 3 globally, replacing the popular Odin 2 in the process (curr. $339 on Amazon). To recap, the company recently launched the AYN Thor as an alternative to the Ayaneo Pocket DS. By contrast, the Odin 3 appears to be AYN Technologies' answer to last year's Retroid Pocket 5.
For context, the Pocket 5 retails for $219 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 5.5-inch AMOLED display capped at 60 Hz. Also, the handheld can only be configured with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. Meanwhile, the Odin 3 features the following hardware across all SKUs:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
- 6-inch AMOLED display, 1080p resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate
- 8,000 mAh battery with 60 W charging
- Bluetooth 6 & Wi-Fi 7 connectivity
Also, the Odin 3 features faster LPDDR5X RAM, albeit with the same overall base memory configuration as the Pocket 5 at a 36% higher price point. With that being said, AYN Technologies offers the Odin 3 in three additional memory configurations, culminating in 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. The company's latest release can output to a 4K external monitor at up to 60 FPS as well, which escapes many affordable Android gaming handhelds.
The Odin 3 starts at $299 on Indiegogo with 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage as the Odin 3 Base. Next up, AYN Technologies sells the Odin 3 Pro with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage for $369. Alternatively, one can pick up the Odin 3 Max with 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage for $419 or the Odin 3 Ultra with 24 GB RAM/1 TB storage for $499. Currently, AYN Technologies expects to begin shipping Odin 3 orders in November 2025.
