4K gaming monitor with 320Hz mode and 450 nits for $379: Philips Evnia 27M2N3800A launches
Philips has confirmed that the new Evnia 27M2N3800A gaming monitor will ship to European customers in July. The display is already available for preorder on Amazon Germany for €359 including 19% VAT. UK pricing is set at £279, which translates to $379. This makes it one of the most affordable "dual-mode" gaming monitors from Philips, as it offers users a choice between 4K resolution or a higher refresh rate.
More specifically, the 27-inch IPS panel runs at 4K and up to 160Hz, but lowering the resolution to 1920 x 1080 can push the refresh rate to 320Hz. According to Philips, the monitor has a response time of just 0.5 milliseconds. Furthermore, the Evnia 27M2N3800A is also expected to deliver good picture quality thanks to 95% DCI-P3, 130% sRGB, 110% NTSC and 90% Adobe RGB color space coverage.
According to Philips, the gaming monitor offers a brightness of 350 nits in SDR mode or up to 450 nits when displaying HDR content. However, since the monitor lacks a backlight with local dimming, its HDR performance is likely limited. That said, the screen features a matte surface and Philips includes two 2-watt stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Evnia 4K monitor connects to computers or gaming consoles via DisplayPort 1.4 or two HDMI 2.1 ports. The included stand offers up to 5.1 inches of height adjustment, and the screen can also be tiled and pivoted in order to use it in portrait mode. Alternatively, the stand can be replaced with a mount thanks to VESA 100 x 100 compatibility.
