In our review the Galaxy Tab S11 performs very well. However, this does not mean that every user has to be completely satisfied with the premium tablet from Samsung (prices start from $799, e.g. at amazon). Despite a very good rating in the review, we still see room for improvement in some important areas.
Here are our main points of criticism of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 which should be considered before making a purchase.
1. Software of the Galaxy Tab S11 needs more setting options
Unfortunately, the new One UI 8 interface does not bring any improvements in terms of color adjustment. As with the predecessor, we lack an extensive selection of color profiles. The Tab S11 also only allows manual adjustment of the color temperature in the "Vivid" profile, which results in an unnecessary compromise between accurate color calibration or personally preferred white balance. Because we achieved in the review the smallest deviations from the reference colors for the "Natural" profile.
2. Battery life and power consumption are not optimal on the Samsung tablet
The 8,400 mAh battery of the Galaxy tablet only achieves a battery life of around 11 hours in our battery test. In the our WLAN test with 150 cd/m² brightness, a Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro achieved over 17 hours in comparison.
This could also be due to the rather high power consumption of the Tab S11. We measured over 4 watts in idle mode, a Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro in particular works much more efficiently.
3. Thermal problems of the Galaxy Tab S11
The case of the Samsung tablet heats up noticeably for hot spot areas, which leads to a measurable throttling of the Dimensity 9400+. According to 3DMark tests, the performance drops are between 15 and 40 percent. As a result, the Tab S11 also performs significantly worse in our benchmark package than its larger sister model Tab S11 Ultra.
4. Display bezels could be more narrow
Although the Galaxy Tab S11 becomes thinner and lighter compared to the Galaxy Tab S9, the screen-to-body ratio of 83.6 percent is still significantly lower compared to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra with 90.8 percent. This means that the display bezels of the Tab S11 are relatively large and the design does not look as modern as it could.
