Reviews for the Realme C21
Source: DxOMark

As with most devices in the Essentials segment, the Realme C21’s charging performance is hampered by a too-small charger. Although it comes in behind its Wiko and Vivo rivals in this review, the C21 manages to edge out its C11 sibling by a point, and shows decent autonomy (57 hours) with moderate use.

As smartphones become more intricate and specialized for certain functions like gaming, along comes the Realme C21, which focuses on basic uses. That doesn’t mean that Realme has skimped on the popular must-have smartphone features. The phone, which was released earlier this year, comes equipped with a triple camera, a rather large 5000 mAh battery, powered by MediaTek’s Helio G35 processor. The 6.5-inch screen has a “mini-drop” notch in the center. Other features include fingerprint unlocking and a three-card tray that allows for two dual sim cards and a memory card.

Given its pricing, the Realme C21 is meant to be a first smartphone for someone who has upgraded from a feature phone, or for someone who simply wants to run a few everyday apps and place calls. It is a basic budget smartphone that performs with a few hiccups, but is good enough for the casual user who does not expect much. Its camera performance is quite weak and the same can be said about gaming, which leaves battery life as its biggest selling point. With that said, many recently launched budget smartphones offer similar hardware, such as the Poco C3 (Review). Priced at Rs. 7,499 it seems a bit superior when it comes to camera quality, but falls short in terms of software performance. Those looking for a near-stock Android smartphone in this price range can also look at the Moto E7 Power which is priced starting at Rs. 7,499 (3GB + 32GB). It offers slightly weaker performance and has two rear cameras, but adds an IP52 rating to the mix.

Realme's new C-series offerings aren't exactly game-changers for this segment, but more like complementary additions to its existing budget portfolio. The Realme C25 is possibly the most interesting of the lot, while the others are price-gap fillers more than anything else. In any case, we will be testing the Realme C25 and Realme C21, so check for the full reviews of these new phones, coming up soon.

Only a few smartphones have larger screens.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
