Google acquires Limes Audio

While all eyes target the novelties on display at CES, Google continues its quest to improve its various services. Now, the time has arrived for them to take over Limes Audio, a Swedish company that has been around for a decade, developing technologies that aim to fix the audio issues that usually plague online conference calls.

"As more and more businesses adopt our video conferencing solutions, powered by Chromebox for Meetings and Google Hangouts, it’s critical that we provide a great audio experience," writes Google Cloud's director of product management Serge Lachapelle. In an official blog post, he also revealed that Google and the Limes Audio team would work together "to introduce new solutions that offer our customers the best online voice quality on the market."

Back in 2007, Google acquired another Swedish company, named Marratech. The value of that transaction was $15 million, and its target was similar - to bolster Google Talk and Hangouts. Now, Limes Audio becomes the fourth company headquartered in Sweden to be purchased by Google. However, the financial terms of this transaction are not public yet.
