Another interesting information about the new handset is that it will feature an etched plaid pattern on the back cover.

Xiaomi has just officially confirmed previous leaks that its upcoming Redmi 3 smartphone will indeed be equipped with a large capacity 4,100 mAh battery. According to the Chinese manufacturer’s post on its official Weibo account, the battery is going to use "a new technology" that allows to double the energy density in the same footprint. No further details about the technology have been given yet, though.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is scheduled to launch next week (on January 12th). According to various leaks, the device is going to be a 8.5 mm thick metal-made smartphone with 5-inch, 1280 x 720 resolution display. The handset will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM. There’s going to be 16 GB of internal storage space (partly taken by the operating system). It is still unknown whether the phone is going to feature a micro-SD card reader for storage expansion. Redmi 3 will come with a 13 MP rear-facing main camera as well as a 5 MP selfie snapper on the front.

Another interesting information about the new handset is that it will feature an etched plaid pattern on the back cover. Given that metal phones tend to be slippery in the hand, this little detail can help users keep a safe grip. The Redmi 3 is rumored to cost approx. $100.
