Xiaomi HyperOS update begins to roll out for multiple phones launched in 2020

As promised, the Mi 10 series is on track to receive the Xiaomi HyperOS update. The smartphone manufacturer has rolled out the internal testing version of the custom Android skin for the phones. Even though this rollout is for China, the company did announce global availability within Q2 2024. So, if you're in the Beta Tester program, you might soon see the update notification on your phone too.

Getting back to the HyperOS rollout for the Xiaomi Mi 10 series, the package size for the beta update is 4.1 GB. This suggests that the 2020 smartphones are about to get a complete overhaul. The update notes say the same as well.

While the Android 14 update isn't the stable version, the notes mention most of the main aspects of Xiaomi HyperOS. That includes "Low-level refactoring." It aims to maximize the ability of the Mi 10 smartphones and make them deliver "excellent hardware performance."

Like HyperOS on the latest flagship Xiaomi phones, the newest update for the Mi 10 phones aims to improve battery life. With an ultra-low-power rendering framework, the Android skin also promises to offer smoother animation effects. It even focuses on delivering better connectivity with improved "network selection capability."

Then there's Xiaomi HyperConnect, another main highlight of HyperOS. It's a cross-device interconnection framework that will enable the 2020 phones to maintain an efficient connection with other devices.

Other highlights of the rollout mentioned in the update notes include better security, overhauled UI, new features, and improved notification handling. Overall, even though the update is for phones from 2020, it seems to be carrying over pretty much everything the other Xiaomi phones with the Android skin are enjoying (Poco X6 curr. $274.50 on Amazon).
