In an interview with EDGE Magazine, Tor Frick and Arcade Berg from Neon Giant studio-the developers of Xbox Series X RPG title The Ascent-chimed in about their experience working with Xbox Series X hardware.
Frick claims that the Xbox Series is "easier to develop for" compared to earlier console generations. He's also expressed confidence that The Ascent will deliver a 4K/60 FPS experience on Xbox Series X hardware.
Frick says that with faster load speeds "it just comes out, magically, with draw distances "as long as we can possibly make them." The developer appears to credit Microsoft for the Xbox Series X's increased ease of use. "Microsoft is very open and approachable...Microsoft knows what it takes to be able to make a game for their machines," said Berg.
While The Ascent developer limited praise to the Xbox Series X, reading between the lines here, there's plenty of good news for prospective PlayStation 5 owners. Storage speed on the PlayStation 5 is expected to be up to twice as fast as on Microsoft's console, magnifying the benefits in terms of asset streaming.
And with even indie devs successfully achieving 4K/60, both Microsoft and Sony fans are set to get great image quality this holiday season.
