The Whoop MG is a new fitness tracker that wants to offer a large feature set while looking rather inconspicuous. However, the wearable is reportedly having some major issues, and the manufacturer has already commented on the situation.

The Whoop MG hasn’t been on the market for long. This wearable is designed to measure various health parameters and can be described as a fitness tracker and not necessarily a full-fledged smartwatch. According to various user reports, there are currently significant problems with this new device. Specifically, users are reporting that their tracker is failing very quickly, as it supposedly becomes unresponsive after just a short period of time. All LEDs are off, and the Whoop MG can no longer be connected to the corresponding smartphone app. The usual troubleshooting steps, such as resetting or recharging, apparently don’t help.

There hasn't been much criticism regarding Whoop’s reaction to this situation, as affected trackers are being replaced. The manufacturer has also released a statement on Tech-Issues Today and asserted that affected customers won't be charged for their subscription for the time it takes until their replacement arrives. Whoop further claims that these reports do not reflect the experience of most users, which is a plausible argument.

That being said, it’s currently unclear how many of these fitness trackers are faulty, as users with issues are much more likely to speak up than those who don’t have any. However, it’s rather unusual that a growing number of users report the exact same issue. The Whoop MG is a wearable that can measure the heart rate, but it also features an ECG and provides estimated blood pressure readings. Various subscription tiers are being offered, even the cheapest Whoop One subscription costs $199 per year.
