We know when Elon Musk's Starship will take off again, despite the risk of another explosion

We now know the next date on which Starship will conduct a new test flight. But many questions remain unanswered due to the recent failures of SpaceX and Elon Musk.

For two years, Starship has been undergoing continuous testing. And we now know when the next experimental flight of this colossal spacecraft will take place, and we won't have to wait very long.

This is a key milestone for Elon Musk and the SpaceX teams. During the last phase of testing, the spacecraft was completely destroyed in an explosion that occurred during engine testing. And that's not all, because the previous months have not been synonymous with success.

In January 2025, although the booster was recovered, an engine failure affected the second stage, causing its destruction. Then, in March, the same disaster scenario occurred. Finally, in May, the Starship failed to deploy its satellites and suffered a fuel leak, causing its destruction upon re-entry into the atmosphere.

It is therefore crucial for Elon Musk and his teams to make a new flight a reality in order to improve the image of their project in the eyes of the world. The billionaire announced this on Twitter, specifying that the flight will take place in three weeks. In other words, we can expect a possible launch window, depending on weather conditions at low and high altitudes, during the first week of August.

The objective of this tenth flight is not very different from previous ones. The goal is to recover the Super Heavy on its launch pad using a giant arm designed for this purpose and to deploy payloads, which will be fake satellites. Not to mention that the second stage should, in theory, land during this test.

However, despite the recent failures of the past few months, the Starship spacecraft is still promising, and the teams working on this project have not lost everything. It should be noted that the ninth flight saw the reuse of the booster that had been used during the seventh flight.

On this subject, Elon Musk pointed out that information had been recorded and constitutes a substantial database for the future. Furthermore, it should not be forgotten that during each flight or engine test phase, engineers collect a large amount of data, which is invaluable in determining what works and what does not based on the tests.

But the SpaceX teams are under significant pressure, as many space programs are relying on Starship for their missions. This is particularly the case for the Artemis program, which plans to return humans to the Moon more than 50 years after Apollo 17. For his part, Elon Musk wants to use this spacecraft to go to Mars in 2028.
