Vivo launches affordable 5G phone with 6,500mAh battery and 120Hz display
Vivo has introduced the Y6k (V2542A) as a new addition to its affordable smartphone lineup. The company recently launched the Y600 5G, a smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery that received Guinness World Records recognition.
The Y6k features a 6.74-inch LCD with a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Vivo also advertises up to 1,200 nits of brightness in HBM. Its front camera sits in a waterdrop-style notch, while the rear panel has two vertically arranged camera rings. Vivo offers the phone in blue, white and black.
The smartphone comes with MediaTek's Dimensity 6300 processor, which has eight cores running at up to 2.4 GHz. It also has a Mali-G57 GPU, 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
The Y6k is equipped with a 6500mAh battery and supports 15W charging. Vivo claims that the battery can maintain its performance for up to five years. In terms of camera, the rear camera is 13MP with an f/2.2 aperture; the front camera is 5MP with the same aperture.
This phone runs on Vivo's OriginOS 6 system based on Android 16. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face recognition, and infrared remote control. It also features a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. For wireless connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4.
For durability, it has an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, along with SGS five-star drop-resistance certification. The phone measures 167.4 x 77.1 x 8.39mm (6.59 x 3.04 x 0.33 inches) and weighs 209g (0.46lb).
The Y6k joins Vivo's affordable 5G smartphone range alongside the Vivo Y32 5G, which we covered recently. The Y32 5G uses a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor and has a larger 8,000mAh battery, giving it a higher battery capacity than the Y6k.
Pricing and availability
Vivo lists the Y6k as a budget 5G smartphone, priced at 1,599 yuan (approximately $240) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version in China. The company has not announced international availability or pricing.
