Verizon updates the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note5
Verizon Wireless continues to improve the features of the older flagships on its network, although Nougat is already official and the first Nexus handsets already got the update. Now, the time has come for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note5 on the carrier's network to get better thanks to new software, although the two handsets will remain stuck with Android Marshmallow for a little longer.
While this might not be a major update, there are quite a few changes it brings:
- Barcode Beaming Service (improves loyalty cards' scanning accuracy in Samsung Pay)
- Three new ways to use Contacts (Profile sharing, Simple sharing, Event sharing)
- OnCircle (doodles, video clips, emoticons, touch effects for People Edge)
- Amazon Widget (quick access to Amazon apps)
As usual, the update rolls out in stages to both handsets. Those who did not get the OTA notification yet and are in a hurry can initiate the update process manually via Settings > About Device > Software Update > Download Updates Manually.

In my early school days, I hated writing and having to make up stories. A decade later, I started to enjoy it. Since then, I published a few offline articles and then I moved to the online space, where I contributed to major websites that are still present online as of 2021 such as Softpedia, Brothersoft, Download3000, but I also wrote for multiple blogs that have disappeared over the years. I've been riding with the Notebookcheck crew since 2013 and I am not planning to leave it anytime soon. In love with good mechanical keyboards, vinyl and tape sound, but also smartphones, streaming services, and digital art.
